The story
The build
The first Cottonmouth got wrecked outside Marfa in 2023. This is the answer to it.
Same idea, better execution: a '74 Shovel in a hardtail frame we cut and welded here, with a springer we rebuilt from a pile of parts bought at Davenport. The tank is a Sportster peanut narrowed an inch and a half so it sits down in the frame rails instead of on top of them — a small thing that changes the whole silhouette.
The motor got a full rebuild: new pistons, ported heads, an Andrews cam, and an S&S Super E. It makes about 62 horsepower, which in a 420-pound motorcycle is more than enough to get you in trouble in first gear.
Paint is a deep oxblood over silver with hand-pinstriped panels. We shot it in the same booth we shoot everything in, which means there is exactly one piece of dust in the rear fender and we know where it is.
