The story
The build
You can still buy an XS650 for less than a set of good tires. That is the entire appeal.
We hardtailed this one, dropped in a rebuilt motor with a 750 big bore kit, and spent most of the build time on the parts nobody photographs: the wiring, the brackets, the way the oil lines route. It has a kick-only setup because the electric start on these was never worth the weight.
It starts first or second kick. We're a little proud of that.
